Kabul: Afghanistan will hold presidential elections on August 20, the head of the election commission said on Thursday.
It is the second time in the history of the troubled nation that democratic polls will be held to choose a head of state.
The Independent Election Commission decided on the date, which comes just before the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, after consulting with Afghan and international security forces.
