New Delhi: India today said Pakistan has given no official response to the dossier on Mumbai attacks.
External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee contradicted claims by his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi that Pakistan's High Commissioner Shahid Malik had given the update when he met Home Minister P Chidambaram on Thursday.
Qureshi had yesterday claimed that Malik had provided an update on the probe by Pakistan. "We have also seen media reports about certain statements by various Pakistani officials on their ongoing investigations, including a certain reported clarification by the Pakistani Prime Minister (Yousuf Raza Gilani)," Mukherjee said.
"I would like to underline that we have so far not received any official Pakistani response to the Indian dossier or official information on the outcome of their investigations. These are awaited," he said.
Pakistan's High Commissioner to UK Wahid Shamsul Hasan yesterday claimed that Pakistani probe had concluded that the Mumbai attacks were not planned in his country but somewhere else. Soon after, Gilani said Hasan cannot comment on the issue which is the job of Interior Ministry.
India feels Pakistan is deliberately giving out confusing signals as it wants to "hide" the truth about involvement of ISI in the attacks.
