Ranchi: Hours before Home Minister P Chidambaram's visit to Ranchi, Naxals shot dead four persons in neighbouring Khunti district on Friday night.

Although the police reached the site on Saturday morning, the deceased were yet to be identified. Even the motive of the crime which is suspected to have been committed by the People's Liberation Front of India, a breakway faction of the CPI (Maoist), was not known.

Chidambaram, accompanied by a battery of officials including the Union Home Ministry's Special Secretary Raman Srivastava and the CRPF IG P.N.Nair, is slated to hold discussions with the state's senior officials at the Raj Bhawan during the forenoon.

Before he returns to New Delhi in the afternoon, he was expected to hold the press conference.
