BJP leader and MP Ananth Kumar blamed UPA government at the centre for the current economic crisis and urged people to elect L K Advani as country's next prime minister.

Castigating UPA policies, Ananth Kumar, while speaking on the floor of Lok Sabha on Friday, said there was no hope for India under the leadership of Home Minister and former Finance Minister P Chidamabaram, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC chief Sonia Gandhi. "We want a strong leader and a decisive government and NDA feels that the people of the country will give their mandate to BJP prime ministerial candidate L K Advani in the ensuing Lok Sabha elections. Advani can bring back the glory what NDA had achieved under Atal Behari Vajpayee's leadership," he said.

Ananth Kumar said the UPA government has failed in all quarters because of its malpriscriptions. "I fail to understand why the UPA has raised interest rates and not invested in infrastructure, communication and education among other sectors. Its useless expenses have brought the country to the brink of economic collapse." On the other hand, he contended that the NDA government spent money on infrastructure, education, communication and roads, and slashed interest rates, which catapulted the Indian economy to a high.

He further said in the last five years, unfortunately the expenses has increased 30 per cent only and revenues dipped by 10 per cent.

Ananth Kumar also lambasted UPA for not providing any solution for burgeoning unemployment in the country. He said in the last three months, as many as 5 million people have lost jobs and another 3 crore are on the verge of losing jobs.

Flaying UPA for frittering away the initiatives of previous government under the leadership of Vajpayee, Ananth Kumar said that lakhs of NRIs were coming back to India due to global recession and as a result NRI remittances were depleting. "India is losing one billion forex per day," he added.
