Pranab's statement hurting Tamilians: PMK

Tirupur: Taking objection to the statement of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee that LTTE has done much damage to Tamils, PMK said the the statement has hurt the sentiments of the community.

Mukherjee's statement was in contrast to the address by President Pratibha Patil that the need of the hour in the Island Nation was negotiations between the Government and LTTE, facilitating a ceasefire, PMK founder Ramadoss told reporters here.

Cutting across party lines, all political parties in Tamil Nadu should speak in one voice on the Sri Lankan Tamils issue, Ramadoss said.

Demanding that India should intervene in the matter, Ramadoss said that the country can intervene and exert pressure for a ceasefire. The Sri Lankan Tamils issue was all about human rights violations and humanitarian crisis, he said.
