New Delhi: Advertisements on as many as 2,000 websites will cheer for BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, which are widely considered as the saffron party's 'techno- campaign' to get the magic numbers to form a government.
The BJP slogan "Advani for PM" will be displayed prominently on popular websites, including that of newspapers, across the world.
The octogenarian leader, known to be a net-savvy politician, had launched his website last year and followed it up with an interactive blog a month ago.
"The top websites have been selected for the advertisements. Only those who log in from India will be able to view them," BJP's national IT convener, Prodyut Bora said. "The aim obviously is to reach out to the voters."
Bora said the websites were selected on the basis of their popularity. The foreigners will be kept out of the loop by BJP through Internet Protocol Tracking System which will aim at those logging in from India.
"Internet advertising works," Bora said, when asked about the increasing use of Internet as a medium to garner support.
The top foreign media websites on which the advertisement has been posted include -- Pakistan's 'Dawn' website, 'The Nation', the US' 'New York Times' and UK's 'Guardian Online' among others.
