Jaipur: Another case of fraud was registered against IPL chairman Lalit Modi for cheating and misappropriation of funds.
An offence of cheating and misappropriation of funds has been registered by Jaipur police against Modi following an FIR registered in this regard by Suresh Misra, state convenor, Nagrik Morcha.
The complaint claims that the IPL donated Rs 6 crore for the families of the blast victims to then chief minister Vasundhara Raje but the money is yet reach any family.
Jyotinagar sub-inspector Neth Ram said, “Misra filed the complaint on Sunday afternoon. We will begin our investigations after taking a statement from the complainant.”
Modi already has two cases lodged against him - one of forgery over acquiring a piece of land in Kota and another of misappropriation of fund in Jaipur.
According to Misra, Modi handed over a cheque to Raje on May 17 after an IPL league match in Jaipur. The money included contributions from IPL sponsors and franchisee owners. “So far not a single victim’s family has received any money from this contribution,” Misra said.
Ever since the BJP Government was ousted in Rajasthan in the recent Assembly elections, Modi’s detractors had been baying for his blood claiming Raje, who Modi is considered close to, was no longer in power to protect him.
