New Delhi: The National Commission for Women on Friday rejected the report filed by one of its members Nirmala Venkatesh on the Mangalore pub attacks.
However, NCW will not send a fresh team to Mangalore on a fact-finding mission as an independent commission from the women and child development ministry has already visited Mangalore for an on-the-spot assessment of the incident.
The move by NCW comes a day after the women and child development ministry issued a showcause notice to Venkatesh for not submitting her report on the case.
Venkatesh had led a three-member team which visited Mangalore on a fact-finding mission after the attack on girls by Sri Ram Sene activists. The other members of the team comprised of a lawyer and a local NGO representative.
The team led by Venkatesh had blamed the pub owners for not ensuring enough security for girls that led to the attack.
